Even the dull and dingy late autumn period has its charm. Be brave, wrap up warm and go and discover new regions.
November days in the Swiss Plateau are dull with high fog. Anyone who wants to top up on vitamin D from time to time travels to sunny places. My favourite route for a day trip with a holiday feel is the journey from Domodossola to Locarno on the Centovalli Railway. The best way to do this is with the Saver Day Pass.
Salzburg often gets lost in the shadows of Vienna, despite the fact that the festival city has plenty to offer besides Mozart. For example, Salzburg is home to Baroque palaces and gardens and a variety of museums. It also stages lovely evening concerts and boasts what is likely the best dessert in all of Austria – the Salzburger Nockerln sweet soufflé. Why not come along with me on my journey to Salzburg!
The Greenfield Festival in Interlaken will be kicking off this year’s summer of events. With a yodelling competition, the local Unspunnen festival and a street parade, you’ll have one event after another to enjoy. While Switzerland celebrates, we’ll be putting on special event trains and working extra shifts to help you get around with ease.
