The Greenfield Festival in Interlaken will be kicking off this year’s summer of events. With a yodelling competition, the local Unspunnen festival and a street parade, you’ll have one event after another to enjoy. While Switzerland celebrates, we’ll be putting on special event trains and working extra shifts to help you get around with ease.
60 years ago, with the timetable change on 2 June 1957, the era of the “Trans Europ Express” began. Starting from Zurich, the elegant multiple unit trains travelled at first to Paris, Hamburg and Amsterdam. From 1961 onwards the electrically operated Swiss RAe TEE II compositions were used, which in the 60s and 70s became the embodiment of luxury rail travel.
When temperatures plummet and Jack Frost covers Switzerland in a cold, white blanket, several hundred SBB employees will be ready to clear away the snow.
